Monument to soldiers of the First Cavalry Army
olesko village, Bussky district Lviv region, Ukraine
Description:
The monument to the soldiers of the First Cavalry Army is located in the Bussky district of the Lviv region. The composition was installed on the twenty-first of December 1975 in honor of the 55th anniversary of the First Cavalry Army.
The authors of the sculpture were professor of the Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts in Lviv Borisenko V.N. and architect A.D.Consulov.
The composition of the monument represents two Budenovites hovering over the road during the battle. One of the fighters is a trumpeter who calls the entire mounted platoon to attack.
Both figures are shown in motion, so everyone who came to look at the monument has the feeling that the horses will break away from their pedestal and take off.
The length of the monument is twenty-seven meters, but it does not look huge.
The site of the monument was not chosen by chance. It was near the village of Olesko that the Budenov soldiers who died in the battle with the cruel White Poles were buried in a mass grave.
