Monument to Kisa Vorobyaninov

Havana Street, 10, Odessa, Ukraine

Description:

In 2009, in the city garden of Odessa there was an amazing monument to Kisa Vorobyaninov - the hero of the novel "Twelve chairs". The monument was erected on the initiative and at the expense of Odessa entrepreneurs, its opening was held without unnecessary fanfare. The sculpture of Kisa Vorobyaninov was made of plaster and covered with paint, its height is 180 cm. It was made by the famous artist Sergey Tolkiev. At least, this is the third Odessa monument associated with the immortal novels about Ostap Bender. The figure of Vorobyaninov is located at the entrance to one of the beautiful restaurants.

Many residents of the city note that the character extends his hand with a large metal hat and competes not only with the surrounding beggars, but also with the nearby fountain. Tourists are happy to throw bills and coins into the hat of the plaster “leader of the nobility” and believe that this will help to return to Odessa once again. In 2010, a monument to Ostap Bender was erected near this monument, which closely monitors the revenue of the companion.
