Monument to a sailor's wife

Sea station, city of Odessa, Ukraine

Description:

On September 2, 2002 in Odessa, on the embankment, near the Marine Station, the opening of the monument “Sailor’s Wife” took place. This is the work of the talented Odessa sculptor Alexander Tokarev.

The monument itself is a touching composition. A young, beautiful, graceful woman in a light word of mouth, holding a 3-4-year-old boy who stands on the railings of the embankment. His right hand is raised up, and with his left he hugs his mother by the neck. The railings are twisted, forged, in the center with an anchor, a semicircle framed, as if a balcony. Odessa and her son stare intently into the vast distance of the sea. Her loving eyes are filled with love, faith and hope that a ship with sails is about to appear on the horizon and her husband will return home.

Monument "Seafarer's Wife", dedicated to all sailors' wives, children, does not leave anyone indifferent. Looking at him, everyone experiences a feeling of tenderness, someone involuntarily pinched heart. Life goes on if there is love. One can imagine that someday in this place, a young wife with the son of this boy who is now looking out for his father will also be waiting for her sailor husband.
