Located in the historical part of the city, originally Richelieu Street was considered very respectable, the first multi-storey apartment buildings, the largest trading offices, banks, representative offices of foreign firms appeared on it.
The mayor himself tried to give the city a European look, and Richelieu Street was its kind of visiting card. With its luxurious houses, hotels, shops and restaurants, the street attracted rich and famous people. Sasha Cherny lived and worked on this street, Fyodor Chaliapin stopped by, who spoke very enthusiastically about the Odessa Opera House.
