Pushkinskaya Street
Ukraine. Odessa. Pushkin Street.
Description:
The street appeared on the city map in 1827. Its original name is Italian. It became famous for the fact that Alexander Pushkin lived on it for some time. The poet devoted many lines to this wonderful city.
On June 25, 1880, the street was renamed Pushkinskaya. This name has survived to our times.
Pushkinskaya Street, which stretches to the railway station, is covered with a granite cobblestone lined with a Christmas tree and having a slight slope to the edges of the street. Sprawling plane trees practically connected their crowns over the center of Pushkinskaya, and the road passes as if in a green tunnel.
The street can be divided into two parts. At its beginning, there were majestic houses-mansions that previously belonged to wealthy citizens. In the second half of the street, closer to the railway station, the houses are simpler and low-rise.
The nature of the street has not changed these days. The beginning of it is elite hotels, banks, museums, tourist organizations, and the second half is much thinner and simpler.
