Apartment-Museum of A.S. Pushkin
About the company:
The museum was opened 24 years after the poet’s death. Its exposition, as then, is connected with Pushkin’s reference to the south, as well as with some of his works that he created or supplemented here.
Initially, this house belonged to the Odessa merchant Charles Sikar, who opened the Hotel du Nord in Odessa. In it Pushkin rented an apartment for more than a month in 1823. Each object that is somehow connected with Pushkin or with his time is part of the museum’s exposition, which allows us living in the XXI century to better understand Pushkin’s time.
Pushkin’s time in Odessa was extremely fruitful for him. It was here that he wrote the poem “Gypsies”, several chapters of the novel “Eugene Onegin” and finished his famous “Bakhchisarai Fountain”. In addition to the usual excursions to the museum, there are open lessons and evenings dedicated to the memory of the poet.
