River Horol

Khorol, Poltava region, Ukraine

Description:

The Khorol River with a length of 311 kilometers is the right tributary of the Psel River, which, in turn, belongs to the Dnieper basin. The chorole takes place in the Poltava and Sumy regions of Ukraine and flows into the Black Sea.

The river takes its name probably from the Iranian word har, which means “leak”. The river became famous due to important historical events that occurred on it, namely, the Battle of Khorol in 1185 between the Polovtsy and the troops of the Russian principalities. The Russians won this event.

Khorol is the pearl of the Poltava region: its picturesque shores, stunning sunsets and flooding meadows make the rest unforgettable. In the river you can catch breams, lines, perches, scoundrels, sanders, roach and crayfish.
