Armenian Church of St. Nicholas Yazlovets

Armenian street, Yazlovets, Ternopil region, Buchachsky district, Ukraine

Description:

The Armenian Church of St. Nicholas is located in the Ukrainian village of Yazlovets. It was built of white and red sandstone in 1551 by Armenian settlers who settled in Yazlovets. The church was built in Renaissance style. In the XVII century, to its southern facade, a defensive four-tiered bell tower with a tent roof was attached.

In the middle of the XVIII century, the Armenian community left Yazlovets. The temple left by them becomes a parish church. During the First World War, the church suffered severe damage and until 1929 was a ruin. Repair work was carried out in 1929-1930, and then in the 1990s.

The church is still active these days. Having survived several reconstructions, it is well preserved. It is an architectural monument of national importance.
