The Lord's Resurrection Church

sholom-Aleichem street, Zbarazh, Ternopil region, Ukraine.

Description:

In 1760-1764, the Church of the Resurrection of the Lord was built on the territory of the city of Zbarazh. It appeared thanks to the donations of local philistine Grigory Gimonyuk and Count Nikolai Pototsky.

It was originally a wooden building. During the Soviet Union it was destroyed, like many other churches. For almost thirty years the temple was closed and was in desolation. But in 1989, services in the Resurrection Church resumed, after a stone church appeared on the site of the wooden one.

The building is made in the style of Ukrainian Baroque. This is a two-headed building of light yellow color with a small bell tower and a porch. The shape of the central blue dome is different from those characteristic of temples of the XVIII century.

Currently, the Resurrection Church is active and belongs to the Greek Catholic community of the city of Zbarazh.
