Description:

The fortress of the Holy Trinity Trench is located in the village of Trenches of Ternopil region of Ukraine. It got its name due to the name of the church located on its territory. It is located on a narrow isthmus at the confluence of Zbruch and Dniester. The fortress was built in 1692 by the Polish hetman Stanislaw Jablonowski with the aim of blockade of Kamenets-Podilsky, occupied by the Turks. The fortress lost its strategic importance after the expulsion of Turkish troops from Podolia.
