Description:
The Church of St. Yuri is an architectural monument of the XVIII century, with perfectly preserved decoration in the Baroque style. The temple is named in honor of the owner of the city, Yuriy Lyubet, who, adopting Catholicism, destroyed the city's Lutheran temple and built this Roman Catholic church.
The church was built in 1766 in the then popular Baroque style. Less than a hundred years later, the temple was rebuilt and expanded. In 1857, a clock was installed on the tower of the church, which still works today.
In the courtyard there is a statue of St. Mary, which was restored after World War II.
The interior of the church has been preserved in its original form. A particularly interesting and valuable part of it is the main altar of 1895, with a painting by the famous Baroque master Lukacs Karkker. No less interesting and two monsters of the XV century.
