Transcarpathian Museum of Folk Architecture and Life
Capitulum street, 33a, Uzhgorod, Transcarpathian, Ukraine
About the company:
A visit to this museum acquaints visitors with the life of people who lived in Transcarpathia in different periods of history.
The main focus is on traditional architecture. Among the exhibits of the museum there is a Hutsul building from the village of Stebnoy Rakhov district, characterizing the architecture of the ethnic group of Hungarians, and a characteristic Romanian building of Transcarpathia - a hut from the village of Sredny Water Rakhovsky.
Once on the territory of the museum, first of all, visitors see a hut from the village of Orekhovitsy - it was in such houses that the population of settlements located on the banks of the Uzh River lived at the end of the XVIII century. The hut consists of three rooms: a room, a hay and a pantry. The roof is covered with special straw sheaves. The central place inside the house was an oven, which served for cooking, as well as for heating the rooms. One of the most ancient buildings on the territory of the museum is a house brought here from the village of Tibava. Looking at this house, you can get an idea of what kind of housing was typical for the foothills of Transcarpathia.
In addition to residential buildings, you can not pass by wooden temples, the architecture of which is original and picturesque. Interestingly, the ancient nameless masters built them with an axe, without a single nail.
