The Old Austrian Bridge
Ivano-Frankivsk region. Vorokhta, st. High
Description:
A large stone arched railway bridge-viaduct of Austrian times was laid in the valley of the Prut River in 1895 during the construction of the Stanislav (Iavno-Frankivsk) - Yaremcha - Vorokhta - Rakhov railway. The bridge is located on the bend of the railways and in a place where the river has a wide channel, so it had to be made very long - 130 m. The length of the widest span reaches 65 m. It is one of two large arch bridges in Vorokhta (under the second is the highway Yaremcha-Verkhovina), it is considered one of the longest stone railway bridges in Europe. Currently, it is not working - a new bridge has been built nearby.
