Local history museum

The regional museum of local lore of Zhytomyr is located in its very center, in the place from which the history of the city itself began. This is why there are so many historical buildings around it. The museum is located on Castle Square, directly opposite the old Cathedral of St. Sofia.
The museum contains objects of certain value both materially and spiritually. It was founded by local historians in 1865. Many art objects came from private collections. The museum also opened an art gallery in 1922, where works by famous artists were exhibited and exhibited.
