Salvo Palace

p. Independence 848, Montevideo 11100, Uruguay

Description:

Salvo Palace is the tallest building in Uruguay. At the time of construction, in 1927, the palace was considered the tallest building in South America. The height of the structure is 100 meters.

The palace was designed by Italian architect Mario Palanti. Palanti is an Italian immigrant who also used a similar design for his Barolo Palace in Buenos Aires.

The Salvo brothers bought the palace for 650,000 Uruguayan pesos. The finished building was intended for hotels, but this plan did not work, so the building is occupied by various offices and private apartments. The height of the building itself is 95 meters, and when the antenna is turned on, its height reaches 100 meters.

The palace is located on Independence Square.
