Pre-Columbian Museum of Indigenous Art
Ciudad Vieja, Montevideo, Uruguay
About the company:
The Pre-Columbian Indigenous Art Museum is an art museum dedicated to art objects of pre-Columbian indigenous people.
The museum consists of two exhibition halls with a permanent exhibition and one large hall. The first hall is dedicated to Uruguayan art and archaeological objects found in different regions of Latin America. Some art objects are over 3,000 years old. Another hall regularly hosts conferences, seminars, symposia, educational programs and other cultural events.
Due to its eclectic architecture and advanced technologies, which were used in the construction of the museum building in 1888, the building was declared a national historical monument in 1986.
The information in the museum is in English, which is not typical of other Uruguayan museums.
