Piriapolis is a small town in Uruguay, it is located between the capital of the state of Montevideo (a distance of 98 kilometers) and the resort town of Punta del Este (a distance of 40 kilometers). The population of the city is about 9000 people (2011).
In Piriapolis, a pleasant temperate climate, in winter the air temperature is about + 17 C, and in summer the air can warm up to + 29 C. It is most comfortable to relax in these parts from December to March.
Uruguayans and tourists from all over Latin America come to the resort, travelers from all over the world can look at these parts during a sea cruise on an ocean liner.
In Piriapolis, there are beaches for every taste (Colorada, Sa Francisco, Germos, designed for a relaxing holiday, for example, the urban coastal strip. On wild and deserted beaches like to look surfers - catch your wave. There is a coast, which was chosen by divers - the water there is transparent, and the bottom is rocky.
Piriapolis was founded in the late nineteenth century by Uruguayan real estate dealer, entrepreneur and writer Francisco Piria. Piria Castle is one of the attractions of the city, now in the former ancestral nest of the founder of Piriapolis there is a museum of the history of the region. Museum collections: a collection of sculptures of granite, glass and stone, ancient bathing costumes and barber accessories. This place is shrouded in secrets and legends, there were even rumors that the castle lived a ghost - the ghost of the son of Francisco Piria. Near the castle are the former wineries of the wife of Francisco Piria, now they are destroyed.
A place of attraction in the city that does not fall asleep is the embankment of Rambla de los Argentinas on the Atlantic Ocean. Nearby are hotels, open restaurants, nightclubs and casinos.
The legendary hotel Argentina opened in 1930, it is located on the waterfront and is known for its own railway line, which brought food, dishes, furniture and everything necessary. When the hotel opened, it was considered the largest in Latin America.
Tourists do not ignore the famous mountains of Piriapolis - El Toro (it has hot springs), Pan de Ascur (in these places hang gliders come, there is a huge cross on the top of the hill) and Ingles.
