Lionel Vieier Bridge
Description:
Lionel Villier Bridge connects Punta del Este with another popular beach resort of La Barra.
The bridge was built in 1965 by Lionel Villier, a renowned Uruguayan architect whose design ideas laid the foundation for modern architecture, being applied in such famous structures as Madison Square Garden and Washington International Airport.
The bridge has a wavy shape and literally winds over the two supports that raise it above the waters of the Maldonado stream.
The silhouette of Lionel Villier Bridge became one of the symbols of the province, and its functionality was confirmed in our time, when another twin bridge was built in parallel with the original bridge.
