Cathedral in Leeds

Cathedral House, Great George Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS2 8BE

Description:

St. Anne's Cathedral is the only cathedral in Leeds. The temple acts as a parish church and serves as a pulpit of the Lida bishop.

Previously, on the site of the current cathedral was a Roman Catholic church, built in 1838. But its existence did not last long - a year later it was demolished during the reconstruction and expansion of the street. The new building was built in the neo-Gothic style of stone with limestone details by Eastwood architect John Henry in 1904.

Inside the cathedral, everything is modest: a series of benches facing the altar, as well as two rows of stone pillars along each side.

In 2006, a restoration was carried out in the temple, during which an organ that had not functioned for 20 years was restored. The temple is currently in operation and services are held daily.
