Description:
Dartmoor National Park covers 650 square kilometers of hilly marshland, which is rich in rocks, valleys, deserted expanses and a variety of plants and animals.
Dartmoor is also the site of archaeological excavations, where traces of human activity were found in the period from 2000 to 500 BC - various stone circles, burial mounds and stones of the Druids.
About a third of the park is occupied by swamps covered with a layer of peat. It was this area that became the scene of the novel about Sherlock Holmes “The Dog of the Baskervilles”. Dartmoor is rich in a variety of plants, for example, various mosses, marsh grasses, reeds, heather. There are also animals, such as sheep, cows and wild ponies.
