Whitworth Park

472 Moss Ln E, Manchester, Greater Manchester M14 4PJ, UK

Description:

One of the main attractions of Manchester is Whitworth Park. Here is the famous Whitworth Art Gallery and several buildings of student dormitories of the University of Manchester, known as Toblerones. This beautiful park was opened in 1890 on a plot of land Potters Field, its total area is 7 hectares.

Almost immediately after the opening of the park was leased for 1000 years, the tenant was the government of Manchester, which allocated a symbolic amount of 10 cents per month for the park. On the east side of the park is a statue of King Edward VII, which was erected here to commemorate the royal visit that coincided with the opening of Manchester Hospital.

This place is perfect for quiet family walks or romantic dates. Whitworth is always well-groomed, very clean here. Located on one of the cozy shops, you can relax and briefly forget about the city bustle. This park can be compared to an oasis located in the middle of noisy Manchester.
