Leonardslee Gardens Lower Beeding Horsham, West Sussex, RH13 6PP UK

Description:

Leonardsley Gardens are located in England, near London, in West Sussex. The gardens were created in the late nineteenth century by Sir Edmund Lawder, a famous plant collector. Gardens are located on the slopes of a forested river valley with loamy soils. Now the gardens are a magnificent landscape park.

There are seven lakes in the park, the banks of which are decorated with near-water plants, as well as decorative moisture-loving and shade-loving plants, including rogeria, large gunners, astilbes, hosts, irises. White and black swans swim in the lakes.

There is a large number of shrubs, among which magnolias and rhododendrons predominate. Sir Edmund Lawder was fond of rhododendrons, and, engaged in hybridization, created many new varieties of rhododendrons. In the garden they reach huge sizes and are distinguished by a variety of color shades. Among them is a well-known variety called Lowdery.

At the beginning of the XX century in the park was arranged rockery - stony garden. It has a large collection of azaleas, rhododendrons, blocks of rock are covered with low-growing conifers.

In the park, you can also visit a small zoo where wallabies and deer live.
