Pitcairn Island

Pacific Ocean, near New Zealand Islands

Description:

On the island of Pitcairn in the Pacific Ocean there is only one settlement - the city of Adamstown. Only 47 people live in it. All the inhabitants of the island represent an isolated community, where each other is a relative. Almost everyone is engaged in growing corn and vegetables. All residents cherish the traditions of the first settlers who sailed here in 1790.

In the distant past, the English ship Bounty sailed past the island. On board there was a riot against the cruel William Bly, who eventually with several assistants landed on the shore of a desert island. Most of the inhabitants of the island consider themselves their descendants. The local islanders represent a very good-natured community, speaking a mixture of English and local dialects.

It is one of the most isolated islands in the world. The nearest city is almost 3000 km away. Young people go to New Zealand for higher education and invariably come back. Life here is very measured and leisurely. Guests of the island are offered a beach holiday on the shore, walks through orange and banana groves, as well as an indescribable flavor of secluded island life.
