6 Close, Salisbury, Wiltshire County SP1 2EF
Description:
The Solisber Cathedral is an example of Gothic architecture, built in the 13th century. The cathedral has the highest spire and is one of the largest cathedrals in England, also has the oldest clockwork in the UK.
The cathedral was founded in 1220 and has since been restored several times. The cathedral is a popular destination, attracting more than 500,000 visitors annually. One of the features of the cathedral is its spire, 404 feet high and weighing 6,400 tons, which offers beautiful views of the city and the surrounding area. The front of the cathedral is decorated with original sculptures depicting various religious figures. The inner part of the cathedral amazes with its height and narrowness and is made in light gray tones. The oldest in Europe, and perhaps in the world, clockwork, made in 1386, is located in the bell tower of the cathedral.
There is a library on the territory of the cathedral. There is also a restaurant and shop for visitors.
