Trinity Street
Trinity St, Cambridge University, Trinity College, Cambridge, CB2 1TB, UK
Description:
Trinity Street is a historic street in the centre of Cambridge. It is home to the largest Trinity College, founded by King Henry VIII, from where the name originated.
One of the attractions of Trinity Street is the Grand Gate, the main entrance to the college, which also leads to the Grand Court. Above the opening stands a statue of Henry VIII. Founded in 1546, Trinity College is the wealthiest of all Cambridge.
The street is known for the Cambridge University Press bookstore, which is at the south end. Here you can find new or used books, as well as rare antiques. It was opened in 1581 and ranks first in the list of all bookstores in Britain. On Trinity Street opposite the college, the All Saints Garden Crafts Fair is periodically held, which opens one to two days a week.
