Bodiam Castle
Bodiam Castle, Bodiam, Robertsbridge, Sussex TN32 5UA
Description:
Bodiam Castle is located in East Sussex on the border with Kent, it is one of the most interesting monuments of the rich history of southern England.
Bodiam Castle is a colorful breathtaking sight. Today, the castle is relatively young by historical standards, its age is about 500 years.
In 1385, Edward Delingrigge decided to build a new castle near the River Rother, the building was used more as a carefully fortified residence than a fortress in the true meaning of the word. In 1483, the castle passed into the possession of the Leuknor family, as a result of which the castle was besieged by the royal troops of Richard III. From 1639 to 1645, the estate belonged to John Tufton, the second Earl of Tanet.
In 1815, it was decided to finally demolish the walls of the castle and clear the area, but there was a man who donated personal money for the existence of the temple. That man was John Fuller Esquire of Brightling.
In 1917, the rights to the castle acquired Lord Curzon, and engaged in its restoration.
Today, Bodiam Castle is so well disguised with its parklands that you can get lost in it, but when you enter it, you are fascinated by its amazing landscape that it is impossible to remain indifferent to such beauty.
