Sham Castle

Golf Course Rd, Bath, Avon BA2 6JG, UK

Description:

Sham Castle is actually a wall that was built in the eighteenth century by Richard James to enhance the panorama that opens from the windows of the home of the very wealthy local entrepreneur Ralph Allen. The latter wanted this building "to charm all visitors to Bath."

Sham Castle is a wall with a central carved arch, which is surrounded by two three-storey circular towers. At both ends of the wall are two-storey towers. Despite being just a wall, it looks like an entrance gate leading to the impressive Baronial Hall. The wall is illuminated at night. It offers beautiful views of the city, the University of Bath and Batwick Hill.

To get to the castle "Sham", which is located on the Golf Course Road, you can take the walking trail Bat Skyline.
