Eden Camp Museum

Malton, North Yorkshire YO17 6RT, United Kingdom

About the company:

The Eden Camp Museum, opened in 1987, is one of the largest museums covering British military history since 1914. It was built on the territory of the former camp Eden, built in 1942 for prisoners of war.

Each of the camp's 29 huts is dedicated to different aspects of Britain's involvement in military conflicts. The first part of the museum covers the history of the Second World War and, in particular, the prisoners of the concentration camp. As a result of the use of innovative technologies, the museum recreates the sounds and smells of the camp, allowing visitors to plunge into the atmosphere of that time. Here are unique reproductions of scenes from the life of prisoners of war using artifacts and mannequins.

The second part of the museum is dedicated to the participation of Great Britain in the First World War and military conflicts in Palestine, Korea and Iraq. There are extensive collections of military vehicles and equipment, including tanks, artillery, aircraft and submarines. There is an assault strip on the territory of the museum, where volunteers can wear uniforms and take part in hostilities.

There are also a cafe, a garrison cinema bar and a field kitchen, where you can taste soldier's porridge and listen to popular songs of the 40s.
