East Anglia Railway Museum
Station Rd, Wakes Colne, Essex CO6 2DS
About the company:
The East Anglia Railway Museum, based in the vicinity of Colchester, is an interactive museum dedicated to preserving the history of railways in the eastern counties.
The museum was established in 1986 at Chappel and Wake Valley Station. At his disposal, the station building, the depot and spare tracks that were not used by that time were transferred. Thanks to the efforts of caring people, who spent their time and their own money, museum exhibits move, work, transport people – in general, fully recreate the real life of a real railway.
Today, the main focus of the museum is the preservation of material evidence of history: locomotives, cars, signaling equipment, tools, photographs and documents. However, there are still a number of traditional events that allow to raise funds for the maintenance of the museum. It is a cider festival in June and a beer festival in September. On the days of festivities on the territory of the museum, foam drinks pour into the river, but it will not be possible to ride the train - safety is above all.
