Kent Airport
Description:
Kent Airport is also known as Manston Airport. This is a picturesque small airfield in the coastal rocks of the Principality of Kent. Today it operates a small number of charter flights.
Kent Airport was founded in the early XX century and experienced many dramatic moments - it was the cradle of British aviation, where numerous experiments and tests of the first models of aircraft took place. During World War II, Manston became a repair center for British fighter jets damaged during the Battle of Albion.
In the nineties, the airport began to actively develop as a passenger transportation center. The terminal was built, big business investments were attracted. However, studies have shown that the expansion of the airfield is impossible - there is no place to build a second runway, and the geographical location makes it difficult to use heavy aircraft.
Today, Kent Airport is operated by a New Zealand company that handles up to 20,000 flights a year.
