Beckford Tower

Granville Rd, Bath, Bath and North East Somerset BA1 9BB, UK

Description:

Beckford Tower is an eccentric architectural structure in neoclassical style, built in 1827. From its top in clear weather, a fantastic picturesque panorama of rural surroundings opens. The tower is 36 meters high.

Beckford Tower is located in the vicinity of Bath. It was commissioned by local resident, writer and collector William Beckford and now the ground floor of the tower is the repository of the art collection, library and house-museum telling about the life of this interesting man, who as a child became one of the richest people in Europe at that time.

A famous architectural feature of the square tower is a gilded lantern crowning its top. It is from here that a magnificent view of the untouched nature of South Wales opens, which so attracts travelers and enthusiasts.
