Bath

King's Square

1 Wood St, Bath, Bath and North East Somerset BA1 2JQ

Description:

The Royal Square is a wonderful park and buildings of the XVIII century, built in the Georgian style, which form a square among themselves. In the center of the square is a beautiful obelisk, which was erected in 1738 in honor of the visit of Frederick, Prince of Wales.

Royal Square is located right in the center of Bath. It was built in honor of Queen Carolina, wife of George II, and served as the city square for parades and significant cultural events. The square unites the houses around in one connected architectural ensemble and if you look at it from the south side, the whole composition looks like a large mansion.

Currently, the square continues to gather residents of the city during various public political and cultural events. The buildings opposite now house a literary and scientific institution and the famous Francis Hotel.
