Great Victoria Street Railway Station

Description:

Great Victoria Street is Belfast's main shopping area and, paradoxically, this station is closer to the city centre than Belfast Central Station. Nearby are such prestigious establishments as the hotel "Europe", the Bolshoi Opera House and the pub "Crown".

The station was opened on August 12, 1839, previously in its place was a textile factory. At the time of its opening, it was the first railway station in the city, and until 1852 it was called simply Belfast. By this time, two more railway stations had appeared in the city, and the decision was made to rename the station to Belfast Victoria Street. In 1995 the station building was completely rebuilt.

There are currently four platforms. The second and third are larger, and you can get to them through the main hall of the station, and from here you can go to the first and fourth platforms, which are almost half the size.
