St. Enoch Centre Shopping Centre

55 Saint Enoch Square, Glasgow G1 4BW, United Kingdom

Description:

St. Enoch Centre is a major shopping centre located in the central district of Glasgow, Scotland. The building was built in 1986 by GMW Architects under the direction of engineer Robert Elpine. The grand opening of the complex took place in May 1989 with the participation of the city measure.

The total area of the shopping center is 70,000 square meters. There are about 80 stores, of which 20 are boutiques of world-famous brands. There are also restaurants, cafes, entertainment centers, playgrounds, a cinema and a gym.

The building of the St. Enoch Centre deserves special attention. It features a massive glass roof, which is the largest in Europe. Convenient design allows you to save electricity in the daytime, as the sun’s rays illuminate and heat most of the territory. Therefore, the shopping center received an affectionate nickname - "Greenhouse Glasgow".
