Buchanan Street

Buchanan St, Glasgow, Glasgow City G2, UK

Description:

Buchanan Street is one of the main shopping streets of the Scottish city of Glasgow. Along it there are many shops in which famous trademarks are presented. The street was created in early 1777 on the land of the wealthy "Tobacco Lord" Andrew Buchanan, after whom it got its name. The land in northeast Buchanan Street previously belonged to the train station, which was closed in 1966. Today, the street crosses Nelson Mandela Square.

It should be noted that Buchanan Street is famous for Victorian architecture. Nearby is the Stock Exchange Building, St-Tron George’s Church, and the Royal Palace, which currently houses the Modern Art Gallery. In the northern part of the street is the Buchanan Gallery.

Rentals in Buchanan Street can reach as high as £250 per square foot, making it the sixth most expensive street in the United Kingdom.
