Museum of Religious Life and Art of St. Mungo

2 Castle Street, Glasgow G4 0RH, United Kingdom

About the company:

The Museum of Religious Life and Art of St. Mungo is one of the most striking architectural and cultural attractions of the Scottish city of Glasgow. It was opened in 1993 on the Cathedral Square, near the Cathedral. On the three floors of the museum there are four exhibition halls: a gallery of religious life, a gallery of religious art, as well as a changing exhibition hall and a small Scottish gallery.

The expositions of the museum are devoted to the main world religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam and Sikhism. Its main goal is to improve understanding between people of different faiths. Here you can admire the statue of the god Shiva, get acquainted with the life of Christian saints, as well as admire the intricate Islamic calligraphy.

In order for the museum to harmonize with the architectural ensemble of the Cathedral Square, a beautiful building made in the medieval style was erected especially for it. Externally, the structure resembles a fortress, which has two towers and a massive fortified facade. Its feature is a lot of windows of different shapes and sizes. The western part of the building has a trapezoidal top, and the northern part is rectangular.
