Pembroke Street
Cambridge, Cambridgeshire CB2, Great Britain
Description:
Pembroke Street is a small street in the centre of Cambridge. In the east it passes between Downing Street and Tennis Court Road, and in the west it passes to Trumpington Street. South of the street, along its entire length, is Pembroke College, hence the name of the street.
In the west of the street there is a plot with small shops and cafes. In the north-east of the street is the Zoological Museum of the University of Cambridge, here is the Faculty of Chemical Technology of the University. At the north end of Free School Lane, which leads from Pembroke Street, is the Whipple Museum of History and Science.
In the twentieth century, along Pembroke Street, the famous English architect Karyo built a kind of bridge connecting the buildings. Made of stone, the arched bridge is an example of the late Baroque style.
