Sefton Park

Sefton Park, 2-6 Mossley Hill Dr, Liverpool, Merseyside, England

Description:

Sefton Park in Liverpool is considered one of the main city parks. Its opening took place in 1872, the development of landscape design engaged Lewis Hornblower and Edward Andre. The park is located in the south of Liverpool and covers an area of 0.95 square kilometers. A large area of the park is occupied by an old lake, on which a large number of boats always swim. They can be rented here to ride on the water.

Perhaps the most remarkable building of the park is the glass Palm House, built in 1896 and still functioning according to its original purpose. This is an extraordinary greenhouse, made as a winter garden, or a pretentious, exquisite covered garden with benches. There are many palm trees that gave the glass palace its name. The decor is complemented by statues. Palm House is often used for chamber concerts by jazz bands and mini-performances.

Other significant places in the park are the well-equipped playground, the remarkable monument of Peter Pan, an artificial cave 150 years ago, which has a delightful waterfall and a pond with clear transparent water. Also, tourists like to visit the Shaftesbury memorial, decorated in the form of an unusual Eros fountain made of bronze and aluminum. The entrance to the park is free and round the clock.
