St James Park
St James' Park, Horse Guards Rd, City of Westminster, SW1A 2BJ
Description:
St. James’s Park is a green stripe that circles around Buckingham Palace.
From the bridge in the center of St. James Park, Buckingham Palace is visible on one side, and White Hall on the other. At one time there were hunting grounds of Henry XVIII. Now it is a vast park with mighty old trees and pelicans in the pond. One overly sociable pelican is said to love flying to the zoo, stealing fish from fellow pelicans, and socializing with park visitors. Around St. James Park is the main local entertainment - the changing of the guard.
But still, St. James Park is mainly preferred by visitors for picnics, which can be arranged directly on the grass. In the summer, rent a chair and enjoy the orchestra playing for visitors on a special venue. Locals and regulars of the park say that it is often possible to see the royal family, who came for a picnic, who have fun with ordinary people.
