Belfast Museum Ship
HMS Belfast, Greater London, UK
About the company:
On the famous embankment of the Thames opposite the Tower Castle is one of the main attractions of London - the ship-museum Belfast. Initially, this seven-deck armored ship was part of the British Navy. After 32 years of faithful service, from the Allied landings in Normandy to the peace operations of 1950-1960, it became part of the Imperial War Museum.
You can visit the museum daily from 10.00 to 18.00 (March-October) and from 10.00 to 17.00 (November-February). You can buy a ticket for both group and individual tour tours. Each cabin or corridor recreates scenes from the lives of ordinary sailors and their service in the Arctic. Visitors can see firsthand the work of the galley (sea kitchen), cubicle, cabin, ship infirmary.
The realism of the events helps to recreate the surrounding smells and sounds: on the galley - the smell of cocoa, in the cabin - the sounds of combat and underwater explosions, in the operating rooms - the smell of ether. Fans of technical details can explore the invisible inner workings of the once powerful cruiser by visiting the engine room.
