Scotland Yard Crime Museum

8-10 Broadway, Greater London SW1H 0BG, UK

About the company:

London is home to the world’s oldest museum dedicated to the police’s fight against all sorts of antisocial elements. This unusual museum, which bears the alternative name “Black Museum”, was officially opened in 1877, when the first records were made in the visitor register. The museum was founded in 1869, when a decree was signed allowing the police to confiscate the property of convicted criminals as a textbook. The first exhibition was created by Officer Randall and Inspector Neam, who is credited with the idea of founding the museum.

Since then, the museum's collection has expanded significantly to include highly original exhibits, such as death masks of executed criminals and criminal cases of famous villains of the past, such as Jack the Ripper, who was never caught - in memory of him, Her Majesty's police have only scanty criminal case files.
