Museum of History London

The London Museum of History holds more than 1 million exhibits telling about the life of the city from ancient times to the present. Many artifacts were found during excavations and construction work. Part of the exhibits were brought from Kensington Palace and Guildhall. The main attraction of the museum is the carriage of the Lord Mayor of London.

The museum was opened at the initiative of the London City Corporation in 1976 in the Barbican near St. Paul's Cathedral. Near the museum are the ruins of the London Wall. The museum has a branch in the Docklands, which tells about the history of the port in London.

In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum hosts a display of the Great Fire of 1666 and an exhibition “London before London”, showing Roman exhibits from ancient times to the seventeenth century. Items are exhibited in the halls in chronological order. Entrance to the museum is free.
