St. Philip's Church

1 Bank Pl, Salford, Greater Manchester M3 6BS, United Kingdom

Description:

The current Anglican Church of St. Philip in Salford is part of the diocese of Manchester. It is a rectangular building built of hewn stone in 1824 in the style of the Greek Renaissance.

Above the upper floor, from the central entrance, stands a semicircular visor, which supports an ion colonnade with a balustrade. On this complex structure is a small tower 15 meters high, which houses a bell tower with three bells of different sizes. It is decorated with simple pilasters, between which there are round arched openings. On the four sides of the top of the tower, a mechanical clock with combat is installed.

Inside the church there is an altar of white marble, decorated with openwork carvings, on both sides of which there are ancient paintings depicting episodes from the lives of saints. To the left of the altar is an organ with three levers, restored in 1915. Large stained glass windows of the second floor fascinate with its beauty.

On the territory of the church there is a chapel with a memorial to the heroes of the First World War. In addition to the church service, which takes place on Sundays, concerts and social events are held here.
