Description:

The Church of St. John the Baptist is located in the center of the city of Atherton. It is an active Anglican parish church, erected in 1645. The structure was built of sandstone and hewn stone, and topped with a tiled roof. On the southwestern side of the parish there is a wide square clock tower with a height of 37 meters, under the roof of which there is a small bell tower with interesting tubular bells. The tower was built much later, in 1839.

In the left wing of the building there is a two-storey sacristy and a large organ chamber. In the luxurious church hall there is a wooden altar, skillfully decorated with openwork carvings. On the walls are hung old paintings depicting the faces of saints, wide windows are decorated with frescoes and mosaics. White marble columns located between the benches give the room solemnity. All kinds of church ceremonies are held in the church, accompanied by beautiful chants and organ music. The Church of St. John the Baptist is a unique architectural monument that has survived to this day.
