St. Mark's Church
Worsley Brow, Worsley, Greater Manchester, M28 2WH, United Kingdom
Description:
The Anglican parish church of St. Mark in Worsley was built in 1846 in the neo-Gothic style. The parish is located in a picturesque place of the protected area and is a local attraction.
On the west side of the church there is a tower with a spire of a complex structure 52 meters high, richly decorated with carvings. On the basis of the spire there is a bell tower with arched openings, in which ten bells of different shapes and sizes are installed. There is a mechanical clock under it.
The interior of the church hall is striking. In the center is a nave with massive cast-iron columns with pilasters, harmoniously combined with high arched openings. On both sides of the aisle are the original oak benches. The high altar is made of white marble and decorated with brass decoration. Above him stands a carved panel with episodes from the lives of saints.
The church hosts Sunday services and various church ceremonies, which are accompanied by organ music and chants of the church choir.
