Heaton Palace

One of the main attractions of Manchester is Heaton Park, which pleases tourists and guests of the city not only with magnificent vegetation, but also with wonderful architectural monuments. One of them is Heaton Hall - a beautiful building dating from the beginning of the XVIII century. It was built in neoclassical style by order of the famous Earl Wilton.

The project to build a house for a young family was undertaken by architect James Watt. Heaton Hall was built in several stages. The central part of the structure and the west wing, which houses a kitchen and a chic spiral staircase, were completed in 1778.

Works in the east wing continued until 1789, where a huge library was located. The main facade of the building "looks" to the south, and the entrance to the house is on the north side - this is traditional for the neoclassical style. Currently, there are 13 rooms on the first floor of the building, where temporary exhibitions are held. Here you can see the works of famous expressionists and avant-garde artists.
