Oldham Parish Church

11 Church Ln, Rock Street, Oldham, OL1 3UH, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom

Description:

The parish church of St. Mary and St. Peter, located in Oldham, is part of the Diocese of Manchester. The building was built in neo-Gothic style in 1830 from hewn stone and sandstone, and covered with a tiled roof.

On the south side of the chapel there is a wide square tower 46 meters high. Under its roof is a large bell tower, consisting of eight bells of interesting bizarre shape. Under it there is a mechanical clock with combat, decorated with stucco. Heavy wooden gates are decorated with fine openwork carvings. The wide stained glass windows depict images of saints.

In the center of the church hall there is a high wooden altar decorated with mosaics of pale blue color. Along the central passage there are two rows of massive cast-iron columns propping up six spans of the arcade, painted with bright saturated colors. To the left of the altar is an organ niche, where wonderful music flows. In the church there is a choir, without chants of which no service can do.
