Etihad Stadium

Etihad Stadium, Etihad Campus, Manchester M11 3FF, United Kingdom

Description:

The home stadium of the popular football club Manchester City is called Etihad Stadium. It is one of the largest stadiums in England with a capacity of 47,726 fans.

The stadium was built in preparation for the sports base for the 2000 Olympic Games. Although the Olympics in Manchester did not take place, but there was a beautiful stadium, originally designed for athletics competitions. Subsequently, the treadmills were dismantled, and the stadium turned into an exclusively football arena. After the reconstruction, for the convenience of fans and to ensure safety, a separate sector was allocated for spectators with children, for visiting football fans and for especially zealous local fans of the Manchester City team. The roof of the stadium is designed in such a way that it completely protects the stands from rain, and on days when matches are not held it can be partially removed to provide the best possible access to sunlight for lawn grass.

Despite the relative youth, the stadium has already been noted in the history of football: here in 2008, the anniversary, fiftieth in a row, the UEFA Cup final was held, where Zenit St. Petersburg won a beautiful victory over the Rangers team from Scotland with a score of 2: 0.
