According to legend, a long time ago, when still marriages were concluded solely by the will of God and it was necessary to observe external decorum and what is called “composing a party”, this romantic but sad story happened.
Janet, the daughter of a wealthy nobleman Sir James Dalrymple, was engaged to the famous hoodlum David Dunbar, heir to Sir David Dunbar (senior) of Baldoon. However, the girl was in love with another, poor and simple guy named Archibald, who had no money. And so, on the appointed wedding day, she was found stabbed with a knife in her wedding dress. According to one version, she was stabbed by a poor lover, on the other she committed suicide. It is said that the ghost of the girl still haunts these places.
