Roslin Chapel
Roslin Midlothian EH25 9PU, UK
Description:
Roslin Chapel is near Edinburgh. Visitors are drawn to beautiful images and carvings, and some to mystical and mysterious legends linking the chapel to Freemasonry, the Templars and even the Holy Grail.
Roslin Chapel was built in 1446 and originally had the name of the collegial church of St. Matthew. The chapel is famous for its decorative decoration. The interior of the chapel is decorated with paintings of stars, flowers and a dove with an olive branch on the vaults. The walls are decorated with stone sculptures and relief images, which recreate biblical scenes with Isaac, Samson, David. Particular attention is drawn to Masonic signs on individual stones. Quite often in sculptures there is an image of the Green Man. And in the basements of the chapel you can see cave paintings of adherents of various religions, which depict various plants.
